Iestyn Edwards, aka That Bloke in the Tutu, is an Olivier Award winning, Guildhall trained opera singer, international headliner, after dinner speaker and author of My Tutu Went AWOL.
With opera and dance, he tells how being overheard singing in a converted Suffolk police lockup led to an after dinner recital for Her Majesty on H.M.S. Victory – at the invitation of Admiral Lord West – and then to a misguided tour dancing Sugar Plum around the warzones of Iraq and Afghanistan.
MoD reports described it as an honourable exchange when a fuming Royal Marines Commando hoicked Iestyn offstage by his tutu under-wiring to stuff him in a tank’s hull. Just as the insurgents started shelling…
The talk has been given after dinner for: all the senior members of the British royal family * Prince Faisal Bin Salman * The Friends of the Royal Opera House * The National Maritime Museum * Olympia * Her Majesty’s Intelligence Corps * The Waldorf Hotel * Scarfe’s Bar * Home House * The Barbican * Royal Albert Hall * et al
‘A rare and perfect synthesis of art and larkiness.’ The Times
‘Achingly funny.’ Daily Mail
‘Only the divinely unique Iestyn Edwards could be in a tutu in war-zones and talk about it so perfectly. Fascinating, moving and completely hilarious.’ Miranda Hart
