Dig It Community Allotment runs regular activity sessions at our allotment site where volunteers can come and learn about food growing, healthy eating, plants and garden management whilst keeping fit and being part of a friendly, supportive group.
Volunteering is open to everyone – we have wheelchair access and all ages and abilities are welcome. The allotment also has an on-site toilet. Sessions are FREE and open to anyone based in Uttlesford.
Volunteers do not need any previous gardening experience, just an interest in growing and love of the outdoors. The sessions are volunteer led and designed so that all who are involved can contribute to the development of the site. Tasks at the allotment are varied from planning, preparing the space, developing the site, planting, upkeep of the plots and harvesting what is grown.
Our produce is shared out amongst the volunteers and come spring and summer there are usually plenty of fresh ingredients to take home for dinner.
